For over 15 years, SARC has had to the opportunity to present to the Disability Support Worker (DSW) students at Saskatchewan Polytechnic (formerly SIAST). Representing SARC this year was Lisa Malowany, Manager of Program Support, and Leanne Zacharias, HR Consultant. This is a great opportunity to expose all SARC Member Agencies to these students, who will soon be entering the disability services workforce with great training and education.

Several SARC Member Agencies and their different programs were highlighted in the presentation, along with some key information and stats about SARCAN and the Finance division. We also talked about potential employment opportunities with SARC Member Agencies and job postings on Caring Careers, tips on applying for jobs, as well as opportunities for practicum placements.

The students have already had exposure to a number of organizations in the SARC Member network, including Elmwood Residences, Cosmo Industries, SAI, SACL, and the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. We heard great feedback from the students about these presentations and tours!

This year, there were 20 students in the class. It was a great interactive group of students, including a number of international students, and an even split of female/male students. As a graduate of the program, Lisa looks forward every year to connecting with the students and sharing her passion for working in the sector and choosing to make it her career.

Looking forward to having a fantastic group of new graduates entering the sector in the near future!
