SARC Announces New Executive Director Dec 04, 2007

The SARC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Jackson as SARC’s new Executive Director. Jackson will oversee the provincial association’s work with its 79 Member Agencies supporting people with disabilities and the operation of its recycling division, SARCAN. Jackson has worked in human service for over 17 years, most recently as Executive Director of Calgary Reads, which operated a literacy program in 63 Calgary schools. Previous positions include Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Lloydminster and Rehabilitation Practitioner with the Lloydminster Public School Division, where she supported students with disabilities and their families.

Each year, SARCAN Recycling, a division of the Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres (SARC), recognizes the commitment of its long-term employees at its Employee Recognition Day. Service recognition is given to five, ten, and 15-year employees and retirees. This speaks to the strength of the SARCAN system, which is due in large part to the teamwork and dedication of its long-term staff. This year, 69 employees were acknowledged for their many years of service to the organization.

Davidson High School will receive a top accolade at the Conference on Canadian Stewardship in Vancouver on September 13 for its efforts in reducing its school's eco-footprint in the Canadian Youth Eco-Parliament Project.
